They said that they new they'd made an impact as soon as they heard their tune playing in the Queen Vic pub. Well- that happened to me tonight apparently! Well- I didn't see it myself but I had a few messages from mates saying they just heard 'The Mystery' on Eastenders.

I'll have to watch it on BBCiPlayer to make sure and perhaps give myself a confidence boost;)

My song on Eastenders: Brilliant!

Talking of confidence boost- I found out last week that after I played on dermot O'Leary's Radio 2 show a while back, he decided that he'd use 'The Mystery' as the music bed for his new look show for the next year- again- Brilliant! Cheers Dermot- much appreciated;)

Also while I'm on a role- today I found out that I'm playing on the main stage at this years' "Live at Loch Lomond" alongside Sex Pistols, Ocean Colour Scene and Idlewild on the 3rd of August- get in!

UPDATED:

Right- update on my last blog a few hours ago: I just saw the bit ofEastenders featuring Rickaaaaaayyyyyyy and Bobby Davro doing a sceneaccompanied by "The Mystery".......seriously- you couldn't dream thisstuff up! ;)

Doug

A sign of The Times...

Yesterday there was a double page spread on me in The Times newspaper. It was really bizarre reading about myself knowing loads of others were also reading the article across the country, making their own minds up about me and deciding if they're gonna check out my music or just turn the page and forget about me.

I did the interview a couple of weeks ago and knew it was gonna be in the paper yesterday, but it was still a shock when I turned the page from reading about David "Little Britain" Walliams and saw my picture there on the page. Think it was a really good article, so can't complain.....just a strange thing to feel so vulnerable knowing that people know about your life, you know?

Doug

Top 40!!!

Hey - great news today.

It was announced on the Radio 1 Chart Show last night that my debut single THE MYSTERY has gone in at #36 in the UK single chart!! Thanks to all of you who've bought it - you're all stars!

There's now a great remix of The Mystery available on iTunes called the 'Supersnipe Mix' - click here to get your hands on it.

Thanks again for all your support with the single ;-)

Doug

Welcome to my new website dougwalker.com!

I used to have a website that I "designed" but it was quite frankly rubbish as I had no idea how to update the info like gig listings etc. So, people wanting to come and see me play were left with the useful knowledge that they could have seen me play at a gig three years earlier, if only they'd checked the website then.... brilliant, eh?

So - a fresh start. I've had my little myspace page since 2005 and it has served me very well - with up - to - date gig listings for one thing!:) I see Myspace like the shop on the high street where passing traffic can look in the window and get a feel for my music. This here spanking brand new website is, if you like; the exclusive back street emporium where all manner of exclusive treats await.......well that's the idea anyway! So expect exclusive brand new songs, videos and breaking news from the horses mouth....er..that's me!

Welcome aboard:)

Doug

Rehearsals, Recording and Radio shows...

Hi there!

It’s been ages since I wrote a blog, which I’d like to explain is as a result of being busy rather than lazy! Just to recap from my last blog:

I finished Mixing my album “Fear Together” on December 15th in New York. After a great Christmas break, the album was Mastered - and therefore officially completed- in early January. On January 7th my band and I assembled in a Manchester rehearsal room which would become our second home for the next few weeks…albeit a second home where we’d see no daylight for 7 hours a day.

We worked hard learning the tracks from the album, primarily getting ready for the 4 shows we played in London at The Water Rats in January and early February. These gigs were ace- really fun! Big thanks to all of you who came to see us play- I really appreciate your support:)

Since the London gigs we’ve played in Cardiff, Nottingham and Manchester . A big shout out to the faithful few who braved Valentine’s night in Nottingham to support me! I’m just totally loving having this opportunity to play my songs with my great band.

We’re playing Brighton on Monday, doing a radio showcase thing in Glasgow on Tuesday, Birmingham -Wednesday, Manchester again on Thursday, Leeds on Friday, Dundee on Saturday……. more dates are being added daily which is really exciting…watch this space for first announcements of dates near you.

We’re all feeling the benefit of some disciplined practice and looking forward to the bunch of gigs lined up ahead of us.

We’ve just spent 2 days recording these acoustic versions of the album in Manchester with producer Matt Wanstall, who as well as producing a couple of songs on my album has produced a number of other tracks you’ll hopefully be hearing over the next few months in the form of B-sides to my singles. In total there are 28 tracks in the can now which is great as the next few months are gonna be really busy with no spare time so we can just concentrate on getting out there and playing gigs.

I was at Radio 2 this week recording a session for Dermot O’leary. The band and I had a great laugh and I think we did ok!?:) I’m sitting here backstage at the Tripod in Dublin. My guitarist Mark and I are playing an acoustic set supporting Seasick Steve who is just unbelievable. You may have seen him on Jools Holland’s Hootananny New Year’s Eve show. He’s a fantastic blues guitarist and singer and his backing band is the little wooden box he stomps his foot on to keep time. He asked me to support him after we met a couple of weeks ago and I’m well chuffed! Tomorrow I’m playing an acoustic session on Stephen Merchant’s BBC 6 Music show and I’m very nervous, to be honest- just me and my piano.

Anyway-first things first- I’m playing in half an hour here in Dublin so better get my mind on the job in hand…..ahh, there you go- nervous about tonight now instead….perfect:)

Speak soon

Doug
